I’ll start out with the customary big ride disclaimer, as it’s important for these big rides. : our big rides are not for the fainthearted and they are really hilly, tough but ultimately enjoyable rides. We have a lunch stop but they are longer, hillier and slightly faster than our standard rides. If you’re unsure then please speak to us and come to a standard ride first. We’re not ones to be too specific about speed but ideally shouldn’t be much slower than around 12mph average around this sort of course, as otherwise they just take way too long and it’ll be a real tough day in the saddle.
This route kindly donated by Rob Symons. I’ll leave the description to him in his own words (thanks Rob)
“64 miles heading north from Prestwich… up through Rochdale and Bacup then on to Hebden Bridge. Take the steep part cobbled climb out of Hebden heading for Burnley and past the wonderful Widdop Reservoir. Once at Burnley its a (mostly) downhill run through Rawtenstall and Edenfield, past Owd Betts and then hurtle down through Ashy Valley before heading back through suburbia to Prestwich and a well earned pint*”
* non-alcoholic drinks are available :)
If you have a GPS device, please download the route so that you can follow it.
Polite request to not ride off of the front if you either do not have the route or you have not studied it.
