Distance: 72 miles
Elevation: 5,300 ft approx.
Moving time: Approx 5.5 hours – 6 Hours // Total Time approx 6.5 hours-7 Hours. (very approximate dependent on rider pace and general stops – allows for brief stops/traffic and lunch)
Start: 08:00 at St Mary’s Flower Park, Prestwich
Lunch: TBC – possibly decide on day.
Post Ride: Time dependent really, see how everyone feels. Woodthorpe in Prestwich has been a good call of late but always like the Same Yet Inn in Simister. Hopefully back between 14:30 to 15:00
PLEASE NOTE 8am START!
Please note, our big rides are not for the feint hearted and they are really hilly, tough but ultimately enjoyable rides. We have a lunch stop but they are longer, hillier and slightly faster than our standard rides. If you’re unsure then please speak to us and come to a standard ride first. We’re not ones to be too specific about speed but ideally shouldn’t be much slower than around 12mph average around this sort of course, as otherwise they just take way too long.
A corking big ride, very kindly provided by Rob Symons. Cheers buddy. We FINALLY get out to Winnats pass, which by all accounts is a total swine. This one should be interesting.
Not only has Rob provided the route but he’s been a total legend and done the description too!
“70 mile loop taking in Mam Tor, Edale & Top 100 Climb (#33) Winnats Pass – gaining 200m over the course of a mile with an average gradient of 12% and topping out at an eye watering 20%. After conquering this beast we head for home via Chapel en le Frith, Whaley Bridge and Strines Road.”
We’ll stop for lunch at some point but will decided nearer to the time.
Hope to see plenty out for this. Should be a total belter.
