In the constant quest to keep the routes as fresh as possible, we’re again going to do a slightly longer winter ride (weather permitting) that clocks in at 43 miles, which enables us to head out towards New Mills and do a few a roads that we’ve not done before. While the distance is fairly decent, the climbing (for us) is about as friendly as you’ll get at 2,600ft. It’s still hilly mind.

Starting from 9am at the St. Mary’s Flower Park gates, we will head south in to the Marple Bridge, Mellor and New Mills for what should be some nice climbing and some quiet roads. We tick of a nice climb I’ve been wanting to do for a while in the shape of Col du Mellor. It sounds more imposing that it looks on the elevation charts but it climbs 625ft over 2.2 miles, so it’s not to be scoffed at.

As ever, would be great to see lots down for what is our last ride before Christmas. Please keep your eye out on here and on the website for any weather enforced changes to have to be made (see ride safety below).

Safety and Ride Updates:

Here’s a link to some important information/safety stuff about our rides, please have a read before attending our rides.

Also, please visit the website, Facebook or Twitter channels periodically, and especially the day of the ride, to ensure nothing has changed. We sometimes have to make weather enforced changes to start times or in extremes may even have to cancel rides.
