Our ride this Sunday officially starts and ends at Glossop Train Station. The ride will commence at 09:30 prompt from Glossop Train Station. Please let us know if you are attending and are running late, as we need to be on it with the timings. Leave a message below, email us (email@example.com ) or contact us on Facebook and we can swap numbers.
Some of us will be meeting at 09:00 in Glossop for pre-match coffees, probably in the big Costa that is there, as they’ll be quick and be able to deal with the numbers.
If you are coming from Prestwich/Middleton/Oldham side and fancy extra miles, then a bunch of our rides are starting from:-
- St Mary’s Flower Park, Prestwich @ 07:30 prompt. Rob Symons will be leading any riders from there to….
- Mcdonalds, Eastlands (across from Man City stadium) @ 08:00 at the latest. Mark Leigh and Rob will lead the other riders from here up to Glossop. Approximately 15 miles pretty direct route.
Full ride details are below and on the rides page:-
Sunday April 17th 2016 – Big Ride – Allez P Visits Glossop II // 9:30am start (prompt)
Route Link: Allez P Visits Glossop GPX
Starting From: Glossop Train Station @ 09:30
Distance: 47 miles
Moving Time: 4 hours approx. (not counting stops. 5-6 hour including stops/cafe stop)
This is the second year running of our ‘Allez Prestwich Visits Glossop’ and what an absolute corker of a route.
*Starting and ending in Glossop (important note)*, our April big ride sees us visit Glossop for Rich’s birthday ride again.Woodhead road side of Holme Moss is the standout climb but it is by no means the only hill. 5,000ft + over 48 miles is a test for anyone. The ride will start at 09:30 from Glossop Train Station but some of us will be there from 09:00 to meet for pre-ride coffee.
The route takes in a host of quiet roads and tonnes of hills. What could be better? With a dash of sunshine, some good sports and some laughs this could be an absolute Allez P classic! Super excited about this one. Huge thanks to Rich Knox for the superb route.
As ever, this is a Big ride and , if you’ve not guessed already, will be challenging so if you’re unsure of your fitness or hill fitness then please come on a standard ride first.
The other obvious point to note is that this ride is starting and finishing in Glossop. I’ve put a 9 o clock start for now but may discuss a slightly later 10am start to allow people time to get here. We’re setting of from the train station, so you can get trains from Piccadilly out here for about £4-5 return. Otherwise, car shares could be an option for people with racks/their own cars and, of course, you could ride out here if you fancied a total beast of a ride!
Drinks in Glossop afterwards. Cafe stop in either Holmfirth or Hepworth/Jackson’s Bridge.
Here’s a link to some important information/safety stuff about our rides, please have a read before attending our rides. https://allezprestwich.co.uk/ride-information-safety-tips/
Also, please the website, Facebook or Twitter channels periodically, and especially the day of the ride, to ensure nothing has changed. We sometimes have to make weather enforced changes to start times or in extremes may even have to cancel rides.
